Blue-Pigment Toning Conditioner for Brunette and Dark Hair
Cold Brunette Conditioner from Milk Shake is a toning conditioner built around a blue-violet pigment system — CI 42090 (Blue 1) plus Acid Violet 43 — designed to neutralise unwanted red, orange and copper warmth in brown, light brown and dark blonde hair. Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, Hydrolyzed Quinoa and amino acids (Soy, Wheat, Arginine HCl, Serine, Threonine) condition the strand alongside Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil and Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil. The 250ml size is the everyday retail bottle, intended to be paired with the matching Cold Brunette Shampoo as a two-step cool-tone wash routine.
Why Choose It?
- Blue-violet toning duo — CI 42090 (Blue 1) plus Acid Violet 43 — counteracts red, orange and copper warmth in brunette and dark blonde hair
- Behentrimonium Chloride, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride and Polyquaternium-37 deposit cationic conditioning slip on the cuticle for smoother combing
- Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, Hydrolyzed Quinoa and a free amino-acid blend (Soy, Wheat, Arginine HCl, Serine, Threonine) bring protein-side care to the strand
- Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Soybean Oil and Rice Bran Oil add lightweight botanical oils for softness and shine without a heavy finish
- Designed as the rinse-off conditioning step after the matching Cold Brunette Shampoo to extend cool brunette tone between washes
Best For
Brown, light brown and dark blonde hair — including colour-treated and balayage brunettes — that turns brassy, coppery or warm between salon visits and needs a rinse-off toning step to keep the tone cool. Use as the conditioner half of a two-step toning wash after the matching Cold Brunette Shampoo. Not intended for blonde hair seeking purple-only toning (use a dedicated cool blonde range for that).
Use as the conditioner step after the matching Milk Shake Cold Brunette Shampoo to keep the toning routine consistent.
- After shampooing, rinse the hair thoroughly with warm water.
- Apply the conditioner evenly over damp lengths, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends rather than the scalp.
- Leave on for a few minutes — extend the contact time for a more intense toning result on visibly brassy hair.
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water to seal the cuticle.
- Use as part of a regular two-step wash to maintain a cool brunette tone between salon visits.
Tips
- On more porous, lightened or balayage brunette hair the blue and violet pigments deposit faster — start with the shorter contact time before extending it.
- Wear gloves while applying if you want to avoid temporary blue staining on the palms or nails; rinse any splashes off the bath surround promptly.
- Alternate with a non-toning conditioner on weeks where the tone already looks cool enough — toning conditioners are meant as a maintenance step, not every single wash.
